Forever Still is the Dark Age (Eng)

Who iS FOREVER STILL and what is her music?

Forever Still is a female fronted heavy rock band from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band consists of Maja – vocals, Mikkel – bass/guitar/drums and Dennis – guitar.

What does your music express?

Our music is very emotional and personal and everything is from the heart. It’s very important to us that everything we do is very truthful and honest, since this is the reason we even make music in the first place. It’s an outlet for things that’d otherwise build up inside and boil over, which is why the songs often come from a place of hurt.

Tell us about your songs

I feel like all the songs are different in their own way even though there always is a thread piecing it all together. We do everything from grand rock ballads to upbeat energetic punk-vibe songs as well and fairly heavy rock/metal songs containing screaming. We just go with our gut feeling and write different songs depending on what mood we’re in at the moment of writing.

How long have you been in music?

With Forever Still we released our first EP in 2013, but we’ve all been in other bands before. I’ve been involved in music on a regular basis since I was 11 doing everything from choir singing to musicals to rock bands. It was (obviously) rock music that ended up winning my heart and it also satisfied my craving for creating.

When will your NEW album come out, and official video?

Our full length concept album will be out January 15, and will consist of three EP’s, two of which has already been released. We had our fans pick out the video single for the album after presenting them with little audio sneak peeks, so we’re currently working on piecing all that together while shooting for another album music video as well.

Why do you call your style ‘ROCK/METAL’?

We usually refer to it as melodic hard rock/heavy rock, but half the time people will call it rock and half the time they’ll call it metal. It doesn’t really matter to us, it’s just a label and a way for people to describe what they hear to others, and we all have a different perception of what’s rock and what’s metal. We’re not a clear cut rock or metal band and we’re not gonna write in a specific way to fit into a certain box.

Who are your influences?

Lots!! Any influence is very subconscious and we never take any direct inspirations. We listen to a lot of music outside of our genre, which I think is a strength in regards to creating our own sound. The best bands are the ones who can project emotion through the music they create. Some are: Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, Cult Of Luna, Björk, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins, Martin Grech, Flyleaf, Underoath, Korn, Battle Of Mice, Jane’s Addiction.

What are the plans for this year?

Currently we’re planning for the album release in January as well as well as working on the music videos for the upcoming album. We’re heading out on a European tour this fall to promote our latest release as well as our upcoming album. This will be our first time in Italy as well as playing the Swedish “Rock at Sea Hard Rock”-cruise both of which we’re really excited about!
